A Celebration of Tradition Right Next Door.
On August 9 and 10, the Schaffhausen Cantonal ‘Swing’ Wrestling Festival and Youth Wrestling Event will take place in Schleitheim, directly adjacent to our company premises. We’re proud to support this essential sporting and cultural occasion.
Schwingen — often referred to as Hosenlupf in Swiss German — is a traditional Swiss form of wrestling. Closely related to freestyle wrestling, it’s practised without weight classes and takes place in a ring filled with sawdust.
Using various throwing techniques, the athletes attempt to bring their opponent off balance and pin them on their back to the ground. Competitors hold each other by a leather belt and a pair of sturdy cotton wrestling breeches.

A panel of judges scores each match. The points awarded feed into an overall ranking across multiple bouts, ultimately determining the event’s champion.
More Than Just a Sport – A Living Tradition
Wrestling festivals — known as Schwingfeste or Schwinget — are more than mere sporting contests. They’re social gatherings where tradition and regional customs are celebrated. Together with Hornussen and Stone-Throwing, Schwingen is considered one of Switzerland’s unofficial national sports.
Celebrating Together
We’re delighted to be part of this multifaceted celebration and look forward to two days filled with thrilling matches, warm connections, and vibrant Swiss culture.
