Sugar Beet Pectin

Swiss-made Sugar Beet Pectin – extracted from de-sugared beet pulp using patented technology, and gently dried to a free-flowing powder.

Sugar beet pectin is a naturally derived polysaccharide extracted from the pulp of sugar beets as a sidestream of the sugar production. Unlike citrus or apple pectin, sugarbeet pectin is rich in acetyl groups. It has a lower degree of methoxylation, which gives it unique rheological properties—most notably, it acts more as a stabiliser and emulsifier than a gelling agent.

The true strength of sugar beet pectin lies in its ability to enhance mouthfeel, improve emulsion stability, and contribute to the dietary fiber content in functional foods. It’s especially appealing for clean-label formulations thanks to its natural origin and minimal processing.

Rich in fiber: Pure sugar beet pectin has a soluble fiber content of up to 70 %, making it an ideal natural fiber supplement.

Low viscosity: The molecular weight of sugar beet pectin is lower than that of citrus or apple pectin, which results in lower viscosity. This structural characteristic allows for a higher dosage of soluble dietary fiber in yoghurt, cremes, sauces or beverages.
